Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived at the Lafia International Cargo Airport, Lafia, marking the beginning of his one-day state visit to Nasarawa State on Friday.
He was received by Gov. Abdullahi Sule, accompanied by Deputy Gov. Emmanuel Akabe and other top government functionaries.
During the visit, Shettima is expected to flag off the distribution of relief materials to flood victims in the affected local government areas.
The gesture aims to provide succour to those affected by the recent floods in the state.
He will also present certificates to graduands of the Nasarawa State Technology and Vocational Training Programme, which has equipped over 1,128 trainees with skills in various trade areas ¹.
The Vice President also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a World Bank-funded State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) project.
The project includes the construction of a one-stop investment centre and multi-door court in Lafia, aimed at fostering economic development and dispute resolution in the state.
Other activities lined up for the Vice President’s visit include the distribution of tractors to local government chairmen, rice seedlings, and relief materials to internally displaced persons affected by the flood.
The state government has received about N3 billion from the Federal Government in support of flood victims and IDPs.
