The leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Thursday to present a progress report on the state of the sports in the country.

NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and the Director General, Bukola Olopade, expressed gratitude to the President for the trust and confidence reposed in them and pledged to justify them.

Dikko assured the President that the NSC is focused and determined to deliver on its responsibilities, leveraging the private sector and stakeholders to drive growth and sustainability in the sports sector.

He said the response from stakeholders and the private sector has been encouraging, and they are confident that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda will be fulfilled in the sports sector.

“As the father of the nation, I want to thank you once again for choosing me and my brother, the DG, Bukola Olopade, for this all-important assignment. I see it as a massive opportunity to help propagate the Renewed Hope agenda through sports,” Dikko said.

“I want to assure you once again that we are very focused and determined not to disappoint you, sir, because we know how much you are passionate about the growth of this country across all sectors.

“We have already started work, and the response we are getting from stakeholders and the private sector has been very encouraging.

“We have no doubt that your Renewed Hope agenda will surely be fulfilled in the sports sector,” Dikko added.

Also speaking, Olopade echoed Dikko’s remarks and thanked the president for his support and pledged to deliver on their mandate.

Olopade noted that the president has a special place for sports in his heart, and they are determined to be part of the legacies he wants to leave behind in Nigerian sports.

Persecondnews reports that the meeting also had in attendance the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroot Sports Development, Chief Adegboye Adeyinka, who assured that he would use his good offices to galvanize sports development from the grassroots.

The meeting reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s sports sector by fostering growth, sustainability, and private-sector collaboration.
