Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles’ sensational forward, has been nominated for the prestigious 2024 Men’s Ballon d’Or award.

France Football Magazine announced the 26-year-old Atalanta player’s shortlist for the coveted award on Wednesday, along with 29 other top footballers.

Lookman had an impressive season with Atalanta, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists, helping the team win their first-ever European trophy.

He also played a crucial role in Nigeria’s campaign, scoring two goals in the final against the host team.

The Atalanta top goal scorer’s nomination is a significant achievement for African football, making him the only African player on the list.

The winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or award will be announced later this year.

The nomination list features top players like Erling Haaland, Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappe. Notably, eight-time winner Lionel Messi and five-time winner Cristiano Ronaldo are absent from this year’s list.
