The Nigeria Olympic Committee has apologized to the Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, after Persecondnews reported the NOC-Active Black kits scandal.

Persecondnews correspondent covering the Olympics games in Paris reports that in the meeting on Monday at the Games Village in Paris, the NOC apologized to Sen. Enoh and promised to synergize with the Ministry going forward in achieving national glory.

The meeting was convened by the minister to spur Team Nigeria after an underwhelming performance in the opening two days of the ongoing games.

Enoh stated that the Ministry should be aware of every deal signed on Nigeria’s behalf in order to uphold the presidential mandate of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

Persecondnews recalls that the disparity in Team Nigeria’s outfits was a result of the alleged shady deal the NOC had with ‘Active Black’ without the Ministry’s consent.

A top official of the Ministry of Sports Development who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said: “The Ministry has no deal with Active Black. The NOC is trying to ambush the ministry with the questionable kit deal.”

In an exclusive chat with Persecondnews on Monday, a source had said:”The traditional attire of Team Nigeria at the opening ceremony was solely sponsored by the Ministry anything the NOC is doing is to compliment the effort of the Ministry. But what the NOC is doing is to sabotage the effort of the Sports Minister and the Ministry.

“The NOC is like an NGO and have no right to sign a deal without getting clarification from us, our aim in Paris is to have a kit that will represent the unity of our country and showcase the beautiful traditions of Nigeria through our outfit.

“There was no bag, towel or even shoes in the deal the NOC brokered with Active Black. What is more shocking is the deal didn’t cover our Paralympics team or officials which is not right.

“But the Ministry already provided kits that will cover both Olympics and Paralympics.”
