Nigerian music sensation Davido has spoken out against false reports circulating online regarding his alleged arrest.

In a statement released to the media, the artiste addressed the misinformation that surfaced on April 1, clarifying that he was not arrested and has since returned safely to Nigeria after completing scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya.

Davido emphasised that he has never been arrested in any country for any crime, including his home country, Nigeria, and the United States, despite his extensive international career.

He condemned the fabrication of such serious allegations, deeming them irresponsible and unacceptable, particularly given the global context of April Fool’s Day.

Expressing gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support, Davido announced that his legal team is actively pursuing legal action against the media outlets responsible for spreading the false information.

He stressed the importance of holding accountable those who engage in the dissemination of misinformation, particularly when it has the potential to damage his reputation and career.

“I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I’ve made home throughout my career.

“I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible, regardless of the light of ‘April Fools*, and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation.”

He expressed appreciation to his fans for their continued support, attributing his blessings to God.
