Nigerian music sensation Bella Shmurda has made a revelation about his decision to quit smoking Indian hemp, a substance synonymous with many Nigerian music acts.
The talented artiste, known for his hits and collaborations, disclosed that he chose to break ties with the habit of smoking marijuana due to mounting anxiety about his future.
Shmurda, a close friend of the late Nigerian musician Mohbad, revealed in a recent podcast monitored by Persecondnews that smoking marijuana, or “hemp,” as it is commonly known locally, would frequently cause him to experience intense anxiety.
Determined to regain control over his mental health and well-being, the singer said he made the conscious choice to put an end to his reliance on the substance.
Reflecting on his journey, Shmurda revealed a significant shift in his lifestyle, stating that he now solely indulges in cigarettes and alcoholic beverages, contrasting with his heavy use of weed four years ago.
“I quite smoking weed about four years ago; the anxiety started mounting each time I took it.
“It became very difficult for me to deal with the intense anxiety, so I had to stop smoking weed and focus mainly on cigarettes and liquor,” he said.
