….Aigbe may unveil new plans next week

..her critics should shut up -Timini

There seems to be a ‘cold war’ currently brewing among leading Nollywood female movie producers whose movies are currently rocking the scene.

Last year, the trio of Funke Akindele, Mercy Aigbe and Toyin Abraham hit the cinemas with their movies – A Tribe Called Judah, Ada Omo Daddy and Malaika respectively.

The competition ignited long before the movies hit theaters with each producer flaunting their multi-million naira projects.

Social media platforms were ablaze with teasers, trailers, and bold statements, creating a palpable anticipation among eager moviegoers.

Weeks later, Funke Akindele, emerged as the reigning queen, breaking records by soaring from 400 million to a staggering 1 billion naira at the box office.

A cinematic triumph that etched her name in history as the first-ever Nollywood movie to achieve such a milestone.

Akindele took the game to new heights and showed why she remained Nigeria’s number one box office queen.

Investigations by Per Second News revealed that behind the scenes, an unspoken war maybe brewing, leaving Aigbe and Toyin Abraham unsettled by Akindele’s success.

Sources within their camps revealed tension with Toyin Abraham plotting a strategic overhaul to rejuvenate her movie ‘Malaika’ after grossing a respectable 143 million naira.

It was further learnt that the duo of Mercy and Toyin stopped posting about what their movies have grossed at the cinemas when it became obvious that Akindele was leading by wider margin.

Mercy on the other hand managed to hit 143 million in four weeks but has kept the energy going even as it was gathered that she will be unveiling new strategies in the coming days to shore up the movie’s fortune at the cinemas.

Per Second News exclusively gathered that some of the actors who featured in three movies have started nursing subtle animosity against one another.

As Akindele’s movie hit 1 billion, neither Mercy nor Toyin has congratulated her in the public space.

Timi Egbuson may have confirmed this quiet war currently going on when he took to his twitter now known as X to share Akindele’s success story, describing it as unprecedented.

She urged her critics to shut up now that recent records have shown that Akindele is in a world of her own.

“Lead actor, 1 billion Naira + grossing movie and no be Lover boy/spoilt kid role. Shey una go shut up now?”

A famous Nigerian actor, who didn’t want his name mentioned shared his thoughts about the seeming animosity, saying it is only a matter of time before everybody knows where they belong.

According to him, nobody can stop anybody from shinning but you also can’t compete with Akindele when it comes to move making and acceptability.

“This is the same Funke who was a deputy governorship candidate in the last election in Lagos. She has the name as well as the clout but she also worked hard and took her time to work with people who can give her what she wants,” he said.

When asked if he thinks Omo Daddy and Malaika can over take Akindele’s movie at the cinemas, he simply said: “Only Funke Akindele can beat her own record and she has constantly demonstrated that feat over and over again.”
