Benue Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr Matthew Abo, has been abducted by some yet-to-be identified gunmen.
Persecondnews gathered that the gunmen abducted the Commissioner between 8.00pm and 10.00pm on Sunday from his country home in Zaki Biam in Ukum council area of the state.
The commissioner, it was learnt, was at home with his family when the gunmen came calling.
The gunmen, who rode to the community on four motorcycles, shot indiscriminately before they found their way into his living room and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
Confirming the incident on Monday, Sir Tersoo Kula, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said: “Unfortunately, that is the news. Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Matthew Abo, from Ukum LGA was kidnapped.”
“We received the unfortunate development and His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Alia, has already directed and detailed the security operatives to ensure his safe release from the kidnappers’ den.”
Abo was among the 17 commissioners inaugurated as members of the State Executive Council on August 29, 2023.
