“…says request is sequel to doctors’ advice on the need for him to “take adequate rest after recuperating”

Contrary to report that ailing Ondo State Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is well and will soon return to the state, the House of Assembly has approved an extension of his medical leave abroad as requested by the governor.

Persecondnews recalls that in a letter dated June 5, the governor had informed the Assembly of proceeding on medical vacation and to return on July 7.

In a letter to the State House of Assembly on Monday, Akeredolu is requesting for an extension of his medical leave abroad.

It was, however, not indicated by how many weeks the leave should be extended.

According to the governor, his request is sequel to doctors’ advice on the need for him to “take adequate rest after recuperating.”

Akeredolu said the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would “continue to act as governor until there is a written declaration to the contrary.”

Receiving the letter on behalf of other lawmakers, the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji, said the governor’s request is in line with Section 190 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

Oladiji applauded Akeredolu for adhering to the Constitution, particularly Section 190, expressing delight about his speedy recovery and hope for his “swift return”.
