Just in: Pres. Tinubu swears in ex-Benue Gov. Akume as SGF

The former Benue Governor and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, Sen. George Akume, has been sworn in as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) by President Bola Tinubu.

Akume took his Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office at a brief ceremony on Wednesday at the Council Chambers at the Presidential Villa witnessed some dignitaries including Vice-President Kashim Shettima, some serving and former Governors, and the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan.

Others are Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr (Mrs) Folasade Yemi-Esan and SGF’s wife, Mrs Regina Akume.

Persecondnews recalls that President Tinubu had on Friday announced his appointment as the SGF as well as the appointment of Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as the Deputy Chief of Staff.
