Dr Doyin Okupe, a former Director- General of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, who was arrested on Thursday morning by the secret police, has been released.
Okupe was nabbed by the Department of State Service (DSS) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, was immediately handed over to the EFCC.
Report just reaching Persecondnews confirmed that he has been released from the EFCC custody.
Okupe also confimed his arrest and release from the EFFC custody in a tweet: “I was arrested & detained @ the MM int airport, Lagos this morning 12th Jan on my way to UK for medicals, yrs after my passport was withheld by the FHC Abuja.
“I just left the EFCC office where snr officers in Lagos & Abuja apologized to me for the error.”
Dr Peter Afunanya, the spokesman for DSS, said Okupe was arrested at the instance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and was handed over to them.
