A Chinese man has fatally stabbed his lover, 23-year-old Ummakulsum Sani Buhari, at her parents’ house in Kano, Persecondnews reports.

The gory incident occurred about 10.12pm on Friday at Janbulo Quarters in Kumbotso area of Kano metropolis.

The man, identified as Mr. Geng, armed with a kitchen knife, carried out the gory violence under the guise of visiting the lover at her parents’ house located near the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, Kano.

The deceased also known as Ummita, a graduate of Agricultural Science from Kampala University in Uganda and a divorcee, was going out with the Chinese man.

A neighbour said: “The incident happened around 10:00 pm last night. The murderer was her boyfriend since before she got married. Her husband divorced her and they went on with their friendship as boyfriend and girlfriend.

“He often went to her house. After stabbing her she was taken to UMC Zhair Hospital about a kilometre away from her house but she was pronounced dead.

“Khaleed, her brother stopped the mob from attacking the murderer when he came back for his car when he entered the house because he (Khaleed) thought that will be lead to a different thing. The man was then caught and handed over to the police.”

Geng had a relationship with Ummita for about two years before she settled for another man within the city.

She thereafter returned to her family home after the marriage crashed.

Geng, who is yet to recover from the ruptured relationship, traced Ummita to her parent’s house and stabbed her to death, Persecondnews gathered.

Confirming the incident, Kano Police Command spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa said:”The report of the preliminary investigation will be made public soon.”

He said Geng is already in the custody of the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Buhari, who was buried on Saturday morning (September 17, 2022) in Kano according to Islamic rites, was until her death serving in Sokoto on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
