Breaking: Explosion rocks catholic church in Ondo Gov. Akeredolu’s town, Owo

An early Sunday morning explosion has ripped through St. Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo, Ondo Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu’s town.

Unconfirmed report said no fewer than 10 worshippers including children were feared dead.

The bomb-like explosion occurred on the church premises during the early morning mass has left many dead and scores critically injured.

A witness said the incident caused pandemonium in the area as residents and other church members scarpered to safety.

 

 

A resident, who spoke to Persecondnews on telephone, said sporadic gunshots rented the air across the town with some worshippers taking refuge in various locations as they could not go their houses for fear of being killed.

The resident also sent a video clip of the incident to PSN, showing the gory incident.

People started making calls to their loved ones to take refuge and remain there until normalcy is restored.

A medical personnel at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, confirmed that many casualties were recorded in the incident, while the personnel were having a hectic time attending to those injured.
