President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated U.S. President Joe Biden on the country’s Independence Day celebration.

Buhari expressed delight about how the Biden administration was working earnestly to overcome some of the country’s greatest challenges.

According to him, one of the challenges include racism and especially the Coronavirus epidemic that has inflicted on the United States, a quarter of the global fatalities.

“President Buhari notes with delight how the Biden administration is working earnestly to overcome some of the country’s greatest challenges that include racism and especially the Coronavirus epidemic that has inflicted on the United States, a quarter of the global fatalities,” Buhari said in a statement by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu.

“The President is keenly watching with great interest as the Biden administration makes progress in their efforts to improve U.S.-Africa ties and interactions for the betterment of the continent.”

Persecondnews recalls that 4th of July is celebrated as America’s Independence Day in observance of July 4, 1776, when representatives from the 13 colonies that became the United States approved the historic Declaration of Independence, a grand announcement of the colonies’ self-declared independence from England.

It has been a federal holiday since 1941 and it is usually a day for families and friends to get together for backyard barbecues. Many cities and towns throughout the U.S. celebrate the day with picnics and parades and fireworks displays.
