Few days after businessman was hacked to death, wife of ex-commissioner assassinated in Ibadan

Ibadan, the hitherto peaceful and crime-free ancient city now cosmopolitan, has lately assumed the status of a hotbed of crime and violence with the fatal shooting of wife of a politician in the heart of the city.

Mrs Olayemi Odetomi, is the latest victim of assassin’s bullets.

She was until her death, the wife of a former Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

According to reports, unknown gunmen had invaded her house at Ashi in Bodija area of Ibadan and shot her dead.

The State Police Command has confirmed the murder via its spokesman,
DSP Adewale Osifeso.

He said the 66-year-old woman had life snuffed out of her in the shooting.

He said investigations into the incident had commenced.

Persecondnews recalls that some high-profile killings including a businessman and gang wars with casualties had hit the city in the past weeks.

Residents have raised concerns about the deteriorating security situation in the state.
