Members of the council of chiefs in Ayede Ogbese town, Akure North Local Government of Ondo State, on Monday began an indefinite boycott of the palace.
The council are protesting the patterned insolence and tyranny of some princes in the community, led by Mr. Adetunji Oluyede.
The chairman of the council of chiefs, the Olisa, High chief Femi Fajembimo, led his subordinates in removing all paraphernalia of royalty and staged a walk out from the chambers of the palace to protest the intransigence of Mr. Oluyede.
Persecondnews gathered that Adetunjl allegedly came into the palace with one Adeniran Oluyede, to mouth vitrioles and outright insults at a kingmaker, the Odopetu of Ayede Ogbese, High chief Oladimeji Abitogun.
According to sources at the palace, chief Abitogun had initiated efforts aimed at stopping land grab activities of Adetunji and other corrupt chiefs in the community, as a result of which attempts were made at his life in the past.
Adetunji was also reported to have recently connived with one Mr. Stanly to sell a community land; an act which was reported to the authorities of the kingdom, thus triggering the latest confrontation with chief Abitogun.
However, the Chiefs in the Community have vowed to continue on the indefinite boycott of activities in the palace until “the characters parading themselves as princes show remorse and stop behaving like tyrants in prep.”
The Divisional police Officer (D.P.O) in Ayede Ogbese, Mr. Samuel Fatola has since invited Adetunji Oluyede.
