A congratulatory message has come from President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua, saying retaining his IBF, WBA, and WBO titles has given boxing lovers around the world and particularly in Nigeria, something to cheer.

Buhari celebrated the decisive victory of Joshua over Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev on Saturday night in a statement by Mr Femi Adesina, his spokesman, a copy of which was obtained by Persecondnews.

The World Boxing Heavyweight champion, Joshua, knocked out Pulev almost at the end of the 9th round on Saturday to retain his IBF, WBO and WBA belts.

Recalling his meeting with the heavyweight champion in London earlier in the year, Buhari described Joshua as a humble, well brought up young man, “who will still go places.”

“I wish Joshua all the best in his dream fight against Tyson Fury, he has the prayers and goodwill of Nigerians.”
