Just in: At least 20 bus passengers kidnapped on notorious Akure-Owo-Benin road

More than 20 bus passengers including market women leaders have been kidnapped at Ogbese on Akure-Owo-Benin highway in Ondo State by some gunmen.

Among the abductees are an Iyaloja, Chief Mrs Helen Edward, other market women leaders and passengers traveling from Lagos who were in two or more buses.

It was learnt that one of the drivers of the bus which conveyed the victims who was released by the kidnappers to go home and inform the families of the victims particularly those from Ondo State.

The abductors had put calls though to relations in the state, demanding some N900 million ransom.

However, they are still negotiating as at the time of filing this report by Persecondnews.

Meanwhile, Police have said 10 of the victims have been rescued while four of the kidnappers have been arrested.

The spokesman for the state police command, DSP Tee Leo lkoro confirmed the abductions and rescue of some of them by police detectives and other security personnel.

He promised that the remaining victims would soon be rescued unhurt by the police, adding that they are currently “combing the forest”.
