Just in: Awolowo’s eldest daughter, Tola Oyediran, exits the world

Chief (Mrs) Tola Oyediran, the eldest daughter of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first Premier of the defunct Western Region, is dead.

Until her death, Oyediran was the Chairman, Board of Directors of African Newspapers of Nigeria Plc., publishers of Tribune titles.

Family sources said the late Awo’s daughter, who was married to Prof. A. B. O. Oyediran, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan,  died in her sleep on Thursday.

“She did not show any sign of illness and she was said to be hale and hearty as at lThursday, 15th October night.

She is survived by her husband, children and her only surviving sibling, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, a former Nigerian Ambassador.
