Two “bloody civilians”caught impersonating soldiers in Osun

The long arm of the law has caught up with two men, who allegedly impersonated soldiers in Osogbo, Osun State capital, to rob members of the public.

 

The “bloody civilians” as they are commonly by soldiers — Abolaji Gabriel, 35, and Samuel Mathew, 20, are now facing trial at a Magistrates’ Court for impersonation and robbery.

At their arraignment, Police Prosecutor Elisha Olusegun said the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 16, 2020 at 10:00pm at old garage area of Osogbo.

The two accused were caught in complete Nigerian Army uniform with the intent the intent to rob, PerSecondNews reports.

 

The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges and their counsel, Mr Bola Abimbola urged the court to grant them bails.

The offences violated Sections 516,109,428(d)and 599 of the Criminal Code,  Laws of Osun state 2002.

Ruling on the bail application, Magistrate Abayomi Ajala, released them bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one surety each.

September 29 has been fixed for the trial.
