Some hell-on-wheels youths desecrated the House of God like their master, the Devil, and gang-raped a 22-year-old University of Benin female student and snuffed out her life right in the empty church auditorium in a broad daylight.
The mindless rapists had stormed a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Benin City, Edo State capital and unleashed violence on the undergraduate, who had gone there to study amid serene COVID-19 lockdown ahead of school resumption soon.
The victim, Uwa Omozuwa, had gone to the RCCG, Edo Province 10, Ikpoba Hill, Benin, where she was reading when some dare-devil boys forced their way into the church auditorium, sources said.
After gang-raping her, they smashed her head with a fire extinguisher and left her in the pool of her blood, PerSecondnews learnt.
According to a police source, a security guard at the church found her in a pool of blood and informed the church authorities. She was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital where she narrated her ordeal and died three days after. The Oregbeni Divisional Police Headquarters in Benin confirmed the incident and expressed grief.
Meanwhile, a man-hunt has been launched to apprehend the suspects.
