…cancels mega church services, asks members to hook up to Dove TV
In compliance with the directives of Lagos and Ogun governments to check the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) headquarters has put on hold its mega fellowships for Sunday and mid-week services in all its churches in the two states.
It directed churches with average attendance of 50 members or less to hold their services as scheduled in accordance with government new regulation.
In a memo from the Assistant General Overseer (Administration and Personnel), Pastor J.F. Odesola, to pastors in charge of regionsand provinces in the two states dated March 18, the church’s apex authority directed churches with above 50 members to use their house fellowship centres to run simultaneous services with the main church.
The memo entitled, “Slight adjustment in the mode of serive for parishes in Lagos and Ogun States’’, the church also intructed parishes that have facility to run more than one service to divide the congregants into 50 per service, warning that it should not exceed 50 worshippers.
“One supervising minister and an usher could be seconded to each centre for collation of necessary reports ( attendance, new converts, new comers etc),’’ it stated.
The RCCG said all centres in Lagos and Ogun states are expected to connect to Dove TV for live broadcast from the General Overseer, Pastor Enock Adejare Adeboye, throughout the period.
“The arrangement shall be in operation for next few weeks based on the position of government,’’ the memo said.
It also conveyed the assurance of the continued prayers of the General Overseer to members and asked them not to panic as a result of the ravaging virus which first broke out in China in February.
“The G.O. also encourages them not to panic in the face of the ongoing crisis because God promised us victory over every battle at the start of the year.’’
