…polls 352, 552 votes to beat PDP’s Diri
Mr Dvid Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been announced the winner of the November 16 Bayelsa Governorship poll with a record votes of 352, 552 votes.
His closest rival, Sen. Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 143, 172 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, who is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, announced the results on Monday dawn in Yenagoa.
The results also showed that APC also won in the local government area of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Meanwhile, Diri has rejected the results of the poll, saying the exercise was characterized by vote buying, rigging, arrests and intimidation allegedly supervised by security agents particularly soldiers.
Persecondnews reports that before its fall to the APC, Bayelsa has been ruled by the PDP since 1999 with the incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson, boasting of consolidating power for the party.
