Incensed by his wife’s alleged dishonesty over a plot of land she sold, Ojo Daniyan, murdered her by burning her in a petrol fire in Owo, Ondo State.
Consequently, the killer-husband has been apprehended by the police and have launched investigation into the incident.
The woman was asleep when Daniyan allegedly burnt his wife, Dorcas, to death at their Irese Road residence in Akure, the state capital.
Sources said the deceased and her husband had a heated argument over the exact proceeds from the sold land. she sold.
“Few hours before the incident, Daniyan had gone to the filling station and bought petrol in a jerry can without anyone suspecting his motive.
“Later, fire started in the room where both of them were. A neighbour saw smoke coming out of the room and raised alarm.
“Other neighbours moved in to rescue the woman and took her to the Federal Medical Centre at Owo, but she did not survive it,’’a source said.
The spokesman for State Police Command, ASP Femi Joseph, confirmed the arrest of Daniyan, adding investigation into the incident had commenced.
