President Muhammadu Buhari Monday was met on arrival at the COP24 conference by Polish President, H.E Andrzej Duda and UN Scribe António Guterres as the United Nations Climate Change Conference, kicks off in the Silesian city of Katowice, Poland.
The climate summit is bringing together around 30 000 delegates from almost 200 countries, top state officials, representatives of business and NGOs among them, at this southern Polish city. Talk focus on implementing the provisions of the Paris agreement of 2015, towards the reduction of global warming by cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The first plenary session of the summit on Sunday saw Poland’s deputy environment minister Michał Kurtyka taking over presidency from Fiji, and discussions dedicated to the agenda for the conference.The conference continues until December 14.
