Nigeria’s badminton team has made a strong statement at the ongoing 2025 ANOCA Zone III Games in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, by clinching two gold medals in the men’s and women’s doubles events.

Team Nigeria showcased dominant form in the recent international tournament.

The men’s doubles pair of Joseph Abel and Shehu Aliyu swept through the competition, securing all their matches, including the final against Togo, with commanding 2-0 victories.

Not to be outdone, the women’s doubles duo, Dorcas Adesokan and Deborah Uchechukwu, delivered equally impressive performances.

After successfully navigating opponents from Togo and Burkina Faso, they claimed the title by defeating the Benin Republic pair 2-0 in the final.

Coach Ismaila Muhammed expressed profound satisfaction with the team’s showing.

He emphasized that the tournament was a crucial step, providing invaluable experience and competitive exposure for the athletes as they prepare for major international events on the horizon.

The Nigerian team is expected to continue their winning streak on Thursday, with events including men’s singles, women’s singles, mixed doubles, men’s team, and women’s team competitions set to take place.

With their current form, Team Nigeria is poised to add more gold medals to their tally.
