The Federal Fire Service (FFS) is set for a new era of leadership as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new substantive Controller-General, effective August 14, 2025.

This was announced by the Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), retired Maj.-Gen. AM Jibril, in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday.

Adeyemi’s appointment follows the imminent retirement of the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, on August 14, 2025, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

With a wealth of experience garnered from his years of service, Adeyemi is well-equipped to take on the new role.

Notably, he transferred his service from the FCT Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General of Fire in the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.

Persecondnews reports that throughout his career, Adeyemi has demonstrated a commitment to professional development, attending and passing all mandatory in-service training and command courses, both locally and internationally.

His versatility is evident in his multifaceted roles, having served in various capacities within the service.

Additionally, he is a member and fellow of several prestigious professional associations, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

CDCFIB has extended its appreciation to the outgoing Controller-General, Olola, for his remarkable contributions to the Federal Fire Service.

During his tenure, Olola spearheaded numerous initiatives, showcasing his dedication and commitment to the service.

As Adeyemi takes the reins, the FFS looks forward to building on the foundations laid by his predecessor, with expectations of continued growth and development under his leadership.
