PDP Suffers Another Blow: Another Osun Senator Fadeyi Quits Over Internal Crises

882

Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, representing Osun Central in the National Assembly, has officially withdrawn his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) few hours after another senator from Osun quit the party.

Persecondnews reports that Sen. Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East, had earlier today resigned from PDP, also citing internal disputes and ongoing litigation as reasons.

His resignation, dated July 12, 2025, was communicated in a letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 3, Oke Ejigbo, in Ila Orangun, Osun State.

According to the letter obtained by newsmen on Saturday, the lawmaker said: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.

“Irreconcilable differences and irreparable division that have emerged and court cases and counter court cases in the last three years, which have created factions in the party at the national level.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.”

Fadeyi’s exit comes on the heels of a similar move by Sen. Francis Fadahunsi of Osun East, who also cited internal disputes and ongoing litigation as reasons for leaving the party.

Fadahunsi in a letter dated June 12, 2025, and addressed to the Ward 4 Chairman of the PDP in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, said his decision was reached following wide consultations with his political associates, family, and friends.

The lawmaker who also chairs the Senate Committee on Industry, lamented what he described as “irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles” that had plagued the party at the national level since the last general polls.

The letter reads: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the National level after the 2023 general elections.

“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends. It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith.”

Persecondnews reports that the lawmakers are not the only ones to have left the party in recent times.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, PDP chieftain Adnan Muktar, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, and Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, and other lawmakers have left the party, citing various reasons for their exit.
