In response to the persistent and bloody conflict plaguing Benue State, President Bola Tinubu has rescheduled his official visit to Kaduna and will now make an urgent trip to Benue.

The President is set to travel to Benue on Wednesday, June 18, with the primary goal of assessing the crisis that has tragically claimed numerous lives and caused significant destruction.

His visit will focus on finding lasting solutions to the hostilities.

To this end, he plans to meet with various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community leaders, and youth groups.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, this visit is part of renewed efforts to foster peace in the state.

In preparation for the trip, President Tinubu has already dispatched key officials to Benue State, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, and heads of intelligence agencies.

A town hall meeting with all stakeholders is also planned during the visit, where the President will engage directly with the community to understand their concerns and work towards solutions.

The President’s decision to prioritize Benue follows his strong condemnation of the ongoing violence and his earlier call for leaders and residents to embrace peace, love, and mutual understanding.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and those who have suffered losses as a result of the crisis.

The visit is expected to bring attention to the issue and potentially lead to a lasting solution.

The rescheduled visit to Kaduna State will now take place on Thursday, June 19, where the President will commission various state government projects.
