In a thrilling match at the ongoing 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship in Abuja on Thursday, APR Rwanda came from a set behind to beat Carthage Tunisia 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-22).

The Rwandan team’s strong mental capabilities and determination paid off as they withstood the early pressure from the Tunisian side to secure a hard-fought victory.

“We thank God for the victory and the girls showed strong mental capabilities to withstand the early pressure from the Tunisian Side,” said APR coach Peter Kamasa in his post-match remarks.

Commenting on the victory, the Rwandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Christophe Bazivamo, who spoke exclusively to Persecondnews, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to go all the way to the finals.

“Rwanda has good teams in this championship and they are all prepared to take the trophy back home. APR has started on a good note and they can go all the way to the finals.”

The captain of the winning team, Valentine Munezero, acknowledged that it wasn’t easy coming up against a North African side.

“They were amazing but we were better kudos to my team and we hope to get better in every game,” she said.

Munezero was confident that her team is ready for every opponent, including the host team, the Nigerian Customs.

“Not even the host Nigerian Customs can stop us,” she boasted.
