‘Small Girl, Big God’ – Korra Obidi celebrates US citizenship amid mixed reactions

Popular dancer and social media sensation Korra Obidi has officially become a citizen of the United States, marking a significant milestone in her personal and professional journey.

The Nigerian-born entertainer took to social media to share the news, proudly announcing that she was now an American citizen.

Korra, who has built a global fan base with her electrifying dance moves and vibrant personality, was among a group of immigrants who participated in a naturalization ceremony.

In a heartfelt post, she described her journey as that of a “small girl with a big God,” a phrase often used to signify unexpected blessings and success.
The mother of two shared a video from the ceremony, proudly holding her citizenship certificate while beaming with joy.

The moment was met with an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fans and colleagues, many of whom celebrated her resilience and determination to build a life in the United States.

However, as with many of Korra’s public announcements, her citizenship was greeted with mixed reactions.

While some fans cheered her on, praising her for overcoming challenges—including her highly publicized divorce from ex-husband Justin Dean—others questioned her excitement, arguing that she should remain deeply connected to her Nigerian roots.

Critics speculated about whether her decision was influenced by personal struggles, with some suggesting that the move was more about securing stability for herself and her children.

Some also reignited debates about African entertainers relocating abroad, accusing her of abandoning her heritage.

Unbothered by the backlash, Korra maintained her celebratory mood, choosing to focus on the love and support she received.

She thanked her well-wishers and reiterated that she was embracing every opportunity life had to offer.

“No matter what they say, I will keep dancing, keep pushing, and keep winning,” she wrote in response to the mixed reactions.
