The National Sports Commission (NSC) leadership says it is committed to supervising the zonal elimination phase for team sports at the 22nd National Sports Festival.
The competition, which kicked off this week, will see states competing for spots at various zonal centres, including Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Kaduna, Plateau, and Yobe States.
NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko said: “We are determined to do things differently with a touch of global best practices, and this is why we are putting utmost seriousness to the zonal eliminations this time around.”
NSC Director General Bukola Olopade said the commission has provided necessary logistics for a successful qualification, stating, “The Gateway Games in Ogun state will go down as one of the best-organized Games in the festival history.”
The zonal elimination phase will feature various team sports, including; football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cricket, beach volleyball, abula, and handball.
