Mrs. Beatrice Ekweremadu, wife of a former Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, has been released from the United Kingdom’s prison.
An anonymous source said Ekweremadu returned to Nigeria on Tuesday.
She is alleged to be currently in Abuja.
Report said her family house in the Mpu community of Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State has erupted in jubilation.
Persecondnews recalls that Justice Jeremy Johnson of the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court convicted Sen. Ekweremadu, his wife, and Dr. Obinna Obeta, who were subsequently sentenced to prison by a UK court for their involvement in organ harvesting in 2023.
They were convicted for attempting to buy a kidney from a young Nigerian boy, David Nwamini to donate to their daughter, Sophia Ekweremadu.
This was the first conviction under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015.
The former Deputy Senate President was sentenced to 10 years, while his wife was sentenced to six years.
