Vinicius Jr Wins FIFA’s Best Award, Beats Rodri by Five Scoring Points

1k

Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. has been crowned FIFA’s Best player, beating Manchester City’s Rodri by five scoring points. Vinicius Jr. received 48 votes, while Rodri garnered 43.

The Brazilian forward’s Madrid teammate, Jude Bellingham, took third spot with 37 votes.

Vinicius Jr.’s win comes after he was controversially overlooked for the Ballon d’Or award in October, which Rodri won.

However, Vinicius Jr.’s impressive performances for Real Madrid, including winning La Liga and the Champions League, earned him the recognition he deserved.

Upon receiving his award, Vinicius Jr. expressed his delight, saying, “It was looking impossible for me to arrive here on this stage. I arrived from a small place, close to poverty and crime. Now I’m here.”

The ceremony also saw other winners, including Carlo Ancelotti, who was voted FIFA’s Best coach, and Alejandro Garnacho, who won the Puskas award for his spectacular bicycle kick goal for Manchester United.

Additionally, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez was named FIFA’s Best men’s goalkeeper.
