Why I haven’t made documentary about myself, eyes acting – Ruger

Nigeria’s Afrobeat star, Ruger, has explained why he has not created a documentary about his life, citing discomfort with cameras.

“To be honest, I’ve not made a documentary about myself because I hardly like cameras on me,” he revealed in an exclusive interview with VJ Adams.

However, Ruger is considering documenting his upcoming tour to give fans a glimpse into his life.

“For the tour, I’m trying to document all the processes,” he shared, offering a sneak peek into his thoughts on capturing his journey.

Ruger also expressed interest in acting, citing a potential collaboration with renowned actress Funke Akindele.

“I went to open my DMs, and I came across the new movie Funke Akindele is about to release, ‘Finding Me,’ because she has used my song so many times to vibe.”

He revealed that Funke Akindele reached out to him about collaborating on her next project.

“I saw her text; she wants to use me for her next project,” Ruger shared, expressing excitement about the potential opportunity.

Ruger admitted that his camera phobia might make acting difficult, but he’ll do it if relevant.

“I think it will be hard because I generally don’t like shooting, but like I will get into character if my character is interesting.”

When asked to title his life story, Ruger chuckled, “Open Aimer” – referencing his rapid rise to fame.

“I blew up, and that’s the title of my life story,” he said with a smile.

Beyond music, Ruger plans to venture into songwriting and production.

“Yes, I will go into it because I want to start writing for people this year,” he said, highlighting his desire to collaborate with artists.

Ruger aims to bring his songwriting skills to the forefront, showcasing his talent beyond singing. “Go and check my catalogue, listen to my writing skills; let me bring your music to life.”

As an executive producer, Ruger envisions creating albums for emerging artists.

“I want to do that this year – putting an album for someone, being an executive, and from there, we will be looking for artists.”

Ruger surprisingly revealed a passion for professional wrestling.

“I can do it; just give me my lines and let me do my thing,” he said confidently, showcasing his adventurous spirit.

If he were to step into the wrestling ring, Ruger would face fellow Nigerian artist Portable.

“That will give me numbers; the promo will be crazy, he will come for me, I will come for him.”

Ruger predicted a thrilling matchup, citing the potential for entertainment and revenue. “We are going to make a lot of money; it’s going to be a big show.”
