A devastating incident occurred at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ekiti State on Friday morning, as a portion of the female hostel wall suddenly collapsed.

The incident had trapped several corps members, leaving them with only a few seconds to escape the wreckage.

Male colleagues reportedly rescued the corps members injured in the incident who were receiving treatment at the camp’s clinic.

One of the sources said: “Yes, the wall of one of the female hostels collapsed this morning (Friday).

The bathroom wall collapsed while they were preparing to take a bath.

“But thank God, people rushed down there to rescue them from the rubble. They have been stabilized at the clinic, and they will get further medical treatments.”

An anonymous NYSC official confirmed the incident, stating that two corps members suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical care at the camp’s clinic.

According to the official, the NYSC leadership in Ekiti State had repeatedly appealed for the renovation of the deteriorating hostels, but unfortunately, their pleas fell on deaf ears.

He urged parents and guardians to remain calm and not be alarmed by the incident, adding that it had no serious negative impact on the corps members.
