Celebrity blogger and filmmaker Linda Ikeji has said getting rich is not the birthright of men alone, urging women to strive for financial independence.

In a recent public service announcement, Ikeji shared her thoughts on success and how it impacts people, encouraging women to control their financial destinies.

In her post, Ikeji wrote: “Dear young lady, I hear you! If that’s how you see life and want to live life, it’s your choice.”

Highlighting the importance of self-sufficiency, she stated, “Being rich is not the birthright of men alone. I’d rather be their contemporary than waiting for their handouts.”

Ikeji acknowledged the commonly held belief that the world favours men but emphasized that women can dominate and thrive with fearlessness, strength, determination, and grace.

She challenged the notion of relying on men’s charity, advocating for women to pursue their dreams and build their businesses.

“I want to get to a point in my life where I can get myself anything I want that money can buy without having to beg or sleep with any man to get it,” she asserted.

Ikeji painted a vivid picture of her aspirations, expressing the desire to make substantial purchases independently, without relying on men.

“My greatest superpower as a woman is being financially independent,” Ikeji declared.

She explained that financial independence allows women to live life on their terms, choose partners freely, and leave relationships that no longer serve them without fear of financial instability.

Ikeji also spoke about the mutual respect that financial independence fosters in relationships.

“I want when a man comes into my life, no matter how rich he is, for his money to be a bonus and not my only source of livelihood,” she said, stressing the importance of equal partnership.

Addressing societal perceptions, Ikeji expressed her wish to be seen as a successful businesswoman rather than being objectified.

“I want to dress as sexy as I like and enter any place without a man walking up to me and asking how much it will cost to take me home for the night because he knows who the F I am—a boss babe with her own business as rich as he is, or maybe even richer!”

She also touched on the importance of being able to provide for her children independently, avoiding reliance on potentially bitter ex-partners.

“With all humility, I refuse for the quality of my life to be dependent on the benevolence of men. I want the protection, power, and security that come with having my own money.”

Ikeji reiterated that her message is a personal stance, allowing for individual choices.

“But like I said in the beginning, that’s just me! To each their own!”
