Veteran Nollywood actor Charles Olumo, also known as Agbako, who turns 101 years old in July, says he feels so young and healthy that he could still run and jump like a child.

Despite his advanced years, Olumo said that he feels as youthful and energetic as ever.

Renowned for his commanding presence and memorable roles, particularly those portraying tough characters, Olumo’s career has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian film industry.

At a recent gathering, Olumo shared his thoughts on his remarkable longevity and enduring vitality.

He attributed his continued strength and health to divine mercy, expressing gratitude for the number of years he has lived without feeling the typical effects of aging.

“I feel really strong and healthy,” Olumo said. “Even at 101 years on earth, I still feel like a child, and I am proud of God’s grace upon my life.”

Born in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Olumo’s journey in the film industry began decades ago, where he quickly rose to prominence.

His ability to bring characters to life, especially those requiring a tough demeanor, earned him a loyal fan base and critical acclaim.

His performances were characterized by a unique blend of intensity and authenticity, making him a standout figure in Nigerian cinema.

Reflecting on his career, Olumo noted that his passion for acting and the support from his fans have been significant motivators throughout his life.

He mentioned that staying active and engaged with his craft has contributed to his sense of youthfulness.

“Acting has always been a source of joy for me,” he remarked. “The love and support from fans keep me going.”

Beyond his acting career, people regard Olumo as a cultural icon who has contributed to the preservation and promotion of Nigerian culture through film.

His roles often depicted traditional values and societal issues, resonating deeply with audiences.

This cultural impact has solidified his legacy as one of Nigeria’s most beloved actors.

As he looks forward to celebrating his 101st birthday, Olumo took the opportunity to encourage younger generations to pursue their passions with dedication and resilience.

He emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance, and faith in achieving longevity and fulfillment in any field.

His life, he suggested, is a testament to the rewards of such an approach.

He often speaks about the importance of being thankful for each day and the blessings that come with it.

This outlook, he believes, has played a crucial role in his long and fulfilling life.

“Gratitude and faith have carried me through,” he said.
