Nollywood filmmaker and actress, Funke Akindele, has unveiled the four leading women in her highly anticipated new movie, The Four, setting the stage for another major cinematic outing ahead of the 2026 Yuletide season.

The filmmaker announced that music star Waje, veteran actress Chioma Chukwuka, actress and comedian Bisola Aiyeola, alongside Akindele herself, will headline the new production, which is scheduled to hit cinemas nationwide on December 11, 2026.

The announcement immediately adds star power to a project that Akindele has kept under wraps, bringing together four accomplished women from different creative backgrounds for a story she says she cannot wait for audiences to experience.

“The CAST of THE FOUR is here!!! Okayyyy… now we can really start!” Akindele announced, signalling the beginning of what promises to be an extensive promotional campaign ahead of the movie’s release.

Introducing the central characters, she said, “Four women. Four different journeys. One story I honestly cannot wait for you all to experience,” giving audiences a glimpse into the narrative built around the quartet.

Akindele, however, suggested that the cast unveiling was only the beginning, raising expectations about what the production has in store for movie lovers. “And this? This is only the beginning o! You people are NOT ready for what we have coming,” she declared.

Billed with the tagline, The Four — No One Fights Alone, the movie brings together four familiar faces whose individual strengths have made them prominent figures across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

Their coming together is expected to give the production a distinctive blend of acting, music, comedy and drama.

PerSecondNews reports that the project also marks another Yuletide return for Akindele, who has established herself as one of the filmmakers consistently associated with the festive-season cinema rush.

Her last major project, Everybody Loves Jenifa, continued the hugely popular Jenifa franchise and became a major attraction for cinema audiences during the 2025 festive period.

Now, with The Four, Akindele is preparing to return to the December box office with a completely different story, this time placing four women at the heart of the narrative.

The December 11 release date puts the film in position to compete for the attention of cinema lovers during one of the busiest periods on Nigeria’s entertainment calendar.

With Waje, Chioma Chukwuka, Bisola Aiyeola and Akindele herself forming the core cast, expectations are already building around what the four stars will bring to the screen.

For Akindele, the journey to another Yuletide blockbuster has only just begun, and her message to audiences is clear – “You people are NOT ready for what we have coming.”
