Record six-time African female footballer of the year and Bay FC striker, Assist Oshoala, arrived at the Super Falcons camp in Abuja on Thursday morning for the crunch encounter with South Africa.
Persecondnews reports that her arrival swells the number of players present in camp to 22.
The team revealed that “the camp mood is high and pumped” in a post on their official X handle.
The post reads: “It’s a full house! The camp mood is high and pumped up for Friday’s crucial showdown, with the arrivals of Chinwendu Ihezuo, Esther Okoronkwo, and Asisat Oshoala. 22 players on board.”
Football enthusiasts bemoaned the late arrivals of players to camp, noting that it could work against them in their two-legged tie against South Africa.
Persecondnews observes that while Banyana Banyana of South Africa have been in camp for the past two weeks, their Nigerian counterparts started trickling in this week as most of them are overseas based.
Kick-off time for the all-important game at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja is 5 p.m.
