The confirmation comes four days before the upcoming MPC meeting, scheduled to take place on February 26 and 27.

Persecondnews reports that this will be Cardoso’s first policy meeting since his appointment as the CBN governor and also the first for the year 2024.

The appointment of the members was considered during plenary on Thursday after a report by the Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions of the CBN.

The members are Dr. Cardoso, who is the chairman; Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi; Mr. Bala M. Bello; Emem Usoro; Mr. Philip Ikeazor; Mr. Lamido Yuguda; and Mr. Jafiya Lydia Shehu.

Others are Mr. Murtala Sabo Sagagi; Aloysius Uche Ordu; Aku Pauline Odinkemelu; Mr. Mustapha Akinwumi; and Mr. Bandele A.G. Amoo.

Persecondnews recalls that President Bola Tinubu had requested the Senate to approve Cardoso as the chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria in a letter written to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on February 14.
