As voting progressed in Imo State on Saturday, some yet-to-be apprehended gunmen invaded some polling units, shooting sporadically to scare voters in the queue before swooping on party agents doling out money to buy votes.

The gunmen reportedly snatched about N1.5 million being shared to voters at the four polling units located at All Saints Anglican Cathedral, Egbu, Owerri.

A source said:”We saw the gunmen shooting consistently before swooping on the three men sharing the money.”

Report said while the shooting was going on, policemen attached to the polling units scampered.

INEC adhoc officials at the scene also lay on the ground while voters, party agents, and observers, including journalists took to their heels.

A party agent claimed that each of the polling units in the area got N1 million for vote-buying.
