“Emefiele was allegedly arrested by the anti-graft agency after regaining freedom from the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS)”

Embattled former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and is cooling his heels in their custody less than an hour after he was released by the Department of State Service (DSS).

Emefiele, Persecondnews gathered, that was arrested on Thursday night.

The former apex bank chief who orchestrated the naira redesign policy is currently being grilled by EFCC over his obnoxious policies and alleged fraud he committed while he held sway in the bank.

Following Emefiele’s arrest, there are indications that EFCC might press additional charges against him.

Persecondnews recalls that the former governor after suspension by President Tinubu was immediately detained by the Nigerian secret police in June 2023.
