Globally recognized female Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Tiwa Savage, has given an insight into why Nigerian artistes are more successful than other African artistes on a worldwide scale, attributing it to the toughness and tenacity of Nigerians by nature.

“I don’t know but I think Nigerians are tough, we are hustlers, and because the genre is Afrobeat and the godfather of Afrobeat is Fela Kuti so maybe that’s another reason we are successful,” she said.

Savage also shared her thoughts about the constant rivalry between the Nigerian music industry and the South African music industry.

She noted that the actions of a few shouldn’t be used to judge everyone while insisting that both parties have a lot of healing to do in order to cleanse each other of distrust.

Savage opened up on this while expressing her opinions on the ongoing conflict between the South African and Nigerian music industries.

Although the Afrobeat singer emphasized that everyone should not be judged by the behavior of a small number of people, she said that both parties still had a great deal of mending to do in order to rid themselves of mistrust.

In addition to expressing her love for South Africa, she said it was time for individuals to speak out and let the world know that they were all related by blood.

According to her, there should be no bloodshed in order for someone to win.

On her legacies, the singer also spoke of what she wanted to accomplish before retiring.

Savage said she wanted to be recognized as a flag bearer and as an African woman who did not give up when she was rejected.
