Nigerian comedian and actor, Sabinus, has called on the Rivers State Government to urgently install streetlights on major roads across the state, lamenting the spate of robberies and killings allegedly taking place in poorly lit areas.
The skit maker made the appeal in a social media post, expressing frustration over the security situation and urging Governor Siminalayi Fubara to take immediate action to protect residents.
“Rivers state government give us street light on major roads this is not too much to ask for God sake😡,” Sabinus wrote.
He raised concerns about the frequency of criminal attacks in several locations, suggesting that the lack of adequate street lighting was putting the lives of residents and other road users at risk.
“People are robbed and killed on a steady at Obiri Ikwerre junction, Gra Junction by immigration office, Airforce junction, eleme junction and several other places,” he stated.
The comedian expressed anger over the situation, highlighting the fear and vulnerability residents could experience while travelling through the affected areas, particularly at night.
He also directly called out the Rivers State governor, urging him to address the situation before more people fall victim to criminal attacks.
“@SimFubaraKSC do something about this is getting too much ahhh,” Sabinus added.
His appeal has drawn attention to the need for improved public infrastructure and security measures across Rivers State, particularly the installation of functional streetlights on major roads to improve visibility and help make nighttime movement safer.
