Many hip-hop artistes are ignorantly singing Fuji music — Adewale Ayuba

Bonsue brand of Fuji maestro, Adewale Ayuba, has taken a swipe at Nigerian hip- hop artistes, who ride on the Fuji music genre to make their songs but claim to be making hip hop songs.

Ayuba, in an exclusive chat with Per Seconds News on Sunday, said when he listens to the songs of some Afrobeat music and hip hop acts, he realised that what they do is draw contents of Fuji music and beats, then turn it around to make it sound like hip hop.

He explained why some of their songs don’t enjoy long life span because they are “not deep and lack originality”, adding that when they make songs and people stop listening after three months, it means such song doesn’t have what can keep it evergreen.

The Koloba Koloba crooner praised Kizz Daniel for introducing a unique brand of music into the music scene, saying he personally enjoys listening to his songs because he has been consistent with his craft and knows what works for him.

“I think we need to really appreciate what the hip hop guys do, they are talented young people and I love what they do but it lacks originality because they are not the creators of the songs and beats they use.

“Some of them sing Fuji music but they call it hip hop and the songs hardly last three months before the people move on to another one.

“I like how Kizz Daniel has been going about his music and paying attention to what works for him. He is going places,” Ayuba told Persecondnews.
