An early morning fire has broken out at the West African Examination Council (WAEC) office in Yaba, Lagos.

A staff of the Council believed to have been trapped in between some floors had attempted to jump off through the window in the 12-floor of the magnificent building, according to a witness.

Firefighters from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) and Lagos State are on ground to put out the fire.

Persecondnews reports that the link road from Ebute Meta through WAEC to  National Orthopedic Hospital, Somolu and Onipanu has been cordoned off by the police.

Confirming the incident, the Acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit of West African Examination Council (WAEC), Moyosola Adesina, said the situation is “under control.”

“Yes, the fire outbreak was noticed at the headquarters this morning and the fire fighters were quickly invited.

” I can confirm to you that everyone in the building was successfully evacuated and that the fire has been put out,” she said.
