The Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led Presidential Screening Committee, by its scoring, had ranked the Vice-President very high based on some criteria.
It was also gathered that the committee’s report submitted to the National Chairman of APC, Sen. Adamu Abdulahi, was expected to be deliberated on at Saturday night’s meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) and the 23 presidential aspirants at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
At the meeting were the Secretary to Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha and the National Security Adviser, retired Maj.- Gen. Babangida Monguno.
Persecondnews had reported that Buhari had asked APC governors to support him in picking his own successor, a demand that has generated some controversy within the party.
An outburst by a presidential aspirant and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, against President Buhari had been reported, apparently sensing defeat at the primary scheduled for June 6 to June 8.
