Anambra not haven for murderers, says Gov. Soludo

As tension continues to heighten in Anambra State as a result of the incessant killings by “unknown gunmen”, grief-stricken state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has warned that his administration has drawn a battle line against criminals.

He further warned that no place in the state would be safe for them to operate.

The warning comes on the heels of the killing of a member representing the governor’s constituency, Aguata Constituency II in the State House of Assembly, Dr Okechukwu Okoye, in cold blood.

Persecondnews had reported that after he was gruesomely murdered, he was beheaded alongside his aide, Cyril Chiegboka.

Barely two days after the lawmaker’s murder, another horrendous incident occurred in Anambra State with the killing of seven persons including mother and her four children by gunmen in Orumba North, Nanka Orumba North.

The gunmen, Persecondnews learnt, had invaded the areas and opened fire on the victims before bolting.

Addressing aspirants of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the various elective positions for 2023 at the Governor’s Lodge, Awka, Soludo noted that his government is putting stringent measures in place with security agencies to tackle the situation headlong and restore peace and order to the state.

Lamenting the lawmaker’s killing and beheading, the governor assured that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

“The security challenges confronting the state were being perpetrated by criminals who have now engaged in kidnapping, killing and another manner of criminalities as a lucrative enterprise, a far departure from any form of political agitations.”
