The PDP told a news conference on Tuesday evening in Abuja following the judgement of the court which sacked  Umahi and Igwe for defecting from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Few hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja sacked Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, and his Deputy, Dr Eric Igwe, the People’s Democratic Party has requested INEC to declare its candidates, Iduma Igariwe as the new Governor and Fred Udogwu as Deputy Governor.

The PDP told a news conference on Tuesday evening in Abuja following the judgement of the court which sacked  Umahi and Igwe for defecting from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Persecondnews.com recalls that both Umahi, his deputy and 17 state lawmakers had in November 2020 defected to APC at a grand rally in Abakaliki, the state capital.

In his judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo,  noted that the votes of over 300, 000 which gave Umahi the mandate as governor belonged to PDP and not the APC and could not be transferred to another party.
